Introducing Google's Team Drive

Google has recently introduced a new feature to Google Drive cloud storage platform - the team drive . A team drive allows an organization to create collections of files and folders that are shared by a team of people. While this may sound very much like to the already present "shared with me" feature of Drive, it has a few important differences.

First, Google has expanded access permissions to include the "edit access" role which allows a user to edit and add to the drive, but NOT DELETE. This is a great addition and will help protect files from accidental deletion. Second, files and folders in a team drive are not owned the person who created them, rather by the team drive itself. Therefore if a user departs the files and folders, and their permissions, stay put. Again, much needed! Lastly, each team drive can have its own "look and feel."

So, take a look at our new Z drive -- our first IeSDB Team Drive.
